Kiss Me Hair

I am in love with this picture and her hair. Nothing screams kiss me more than a loosely pulled back chignon like hers. So romantic!

Wedding Journal: How it all Began

Some of you already know this, but for those of you who do not, The Brides Hair Stylist (Me, aka Meredith) is getting married too! I have been posting about weddings for over a year and now its my turn.

It all started 8 months ago. Actually, we began dating a year before that, but I’ll keep this short, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover.

We were on our weekly date night at one of our favorite spots, Northstar. After a wonderful meal, we ordered dessert. While waiting for our treats, the reggae music on the radio slowly faded out and an acoustic guitar began to play. (As a frequent customer of Northstar, you notice when the reggae music stops).

Anyway, the acoustic guitar is playing and a beautiful mans voice begins to sing. Now let me just remind/inform you that my fiance, Nick, is an amazingly talented musician and is sitting across from me.

After about a verse of the song on the radio, I say to my Fiance (boyfriend at the time), “That sounds like you!” He replies, “Really?”

I’m thinking yes. But a little confused, so I continue to quietly listen to the song while my eyes are locked with his. After the another few words, I say “That’s you, it sounds just like you!” Nick replies, “It is me.”

My stomach drops. I immediately begin to fill my mind with a thousand thoughts. If this is him, how come I have never heard this song? Is he proposing? OMG, what is going on??

Nick chimes in “listen to the words.” Ok. Now I think I really know whats happening here.

I’m listening, I hear a line say something like “give me your hand…will you take my name..”.

Now I know. Now I’m internally freaking out. Were at a restaurant, everybody is here. He is sitting across from me. He is looking at me with so much love.

Then I hear the song break to chorus, and before I can hear the words, Nick gets up from his chair and kneels down on one knee.

And as the chorus sings, he says “Will you marry me?”

I can’t act like I even remember what my thoughts were except, YES, YES. I reply “Yes!”

Immediately the entire restaurant begins to clap. We hug. Laugh and I sneak another peak at the amazing ring he put on my finger.  Our friends, owners of the restaurant and wait staff, rush over to express their excitement and joy.

I’m ecstatic. Were engaged!

So thats how it happened. Listen to the song yourself:

We are planning our wedding together. We have only 82 days left until we wed! Today is the first passage to my Wedding Journal. I plan to update often to share our story with you!
